May, 2006 MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT CASE SETTLESRobert O'Neill and Heather Rider Hammond successfully settled a significant personal injury case on the eve of trial. Gravel and Shea's client was seriously injured when her automobile was struck by a 25-year old employee of Accenture, Inc., a national consulting firm. The employee had been working in Boston, and had come to Vermont for the weekend to visit friends. After defeating Accenture's claim on summary judgment that the tortfeasor was not acting within the scope of his employment at the time the accident occurred, the parties settled the case the day before trial for $690,000. |
